Go Kart Torque Converter Driving Wheels in Idle
Переглядів 4,1 тис.2 роки тому
I can’t seem to get this torque converter to allow the wheels to spin freely while in idle. I have dialed the idle speed down all the way, but it seems like the clutch is engaged with the belt too tight. This is my second torque converter and this is one from gopowersports.
Torque Converter Engaging when in Idle Issue
Переглядів 2 тис.2 роки тому
Playing around with a yard kart and installed a new Torque converter, but it won’t let the wheels spin freely when in idle. Seems to want to engage even at low RPMs. I’ve already lowered the idle way down. Any ideas on what could be wrong or is this just a bad torque converter?

      Nope, I don’t believe this pump replacement pushes enough fuel for motors in that high of an HP range. There are some after market pumps you can Google for that range I believe.

    So I have an urgent question These pumps come with a gasket And there's a small peep hole down the center Am I supposed to block that off? Because it seems like the pulse line can blow right thru it Which wouldnt make sense

    • @JasonLefevers
      @JasonLefevers 3 місяці тому

      There are two versions of this pump. One with a separate pulse line and one that attaches directly to the motor which feeds the pulse through a hole in the back of the pump.

    Is the 140 hp fuel pump a different part number? Just bought a 1986 ragin cajun with a johnson 140 but the fuel pump is leaking and the oil pump isnt working and is even wiring up im guessing original owner did it like that i just want the battery bay to be clean so im taking the oil tank completely out

    • @JasonLefevers
      @JasonLefevers 3 місяці тому

      I liked them and would recommend them to anyone who doesn’t go snowboarding many times during season. If you snowboard often than I would invest in a set that will hold up to that type of abuse. But these are great for the snowboarder that goes a few times a year.

      I'm sure you could, but then would make it difficult to start on some days when it's cold or sat for a while when you need that burst of fuel directly into the motor.

    Got these because they were cheap 4 years ago. They take a beating. I've had some pretty bad spills and they are still solid. I've since moved on to better boards but still use these bindings because they are awesome and I have no reason to switch to something different.

    I was ready to delete my VRO and go with premix. If you delete/disable the VRO do you need to add a fuel pump? All other videos just disable the VRO and leave it in in its place. They just disconnect two sets of wires (the one you showed plus some others and cut off the 2-stroke oil supply by placing a bolt in the line (you also have this). But no other video speaks about adding a fuel pump. Am I missing something? Thanks

    It appears thT some fuel pumps have a third hole on the back that mounts to the block. I'm wondering why your fuel pump only has 2 holes. Do you have an explanation as to why yours didn't mount to your engine block? Also, what yr is your engine?

    To anyone that’s interested this problem is caused by a float being wrongly adjusted or a bad needle and seat. Take your carburetor apart. Make sure nothing is stuck in the jet. Make sure your needle is good. Normally a carb rebuild Kit is only 35 bucks pretty easy to replace. If your carburetor is leaking from the back in between the plastic and the metal that could be because it’s warped

  • @WadeMusgrave
    @WadeMusgrave Рік тому

    Great Video Bro! I would add something that will reduce the frustration of re-routing the wires. All you have do is leave the original receiving pin and wires in place. Snip the wires at the bottom near the new motor, then snip the new wires to length and fuse the old and new wires together (i.e., Blue & Green wires) with leak proof heat sink connectors. Slide the sheathing back over and you are done! Takes about 10 minutes if you have the connectors, which every boat DIYers do!

    For anyone looking for the answer, the carb bowl screws were over-torqued and it bent the plastic. Either get glass (or mdf) and sandpaper. Run the mating surface of the carb bowl on the flat sandpaper. Check the gaps with a feeler gauge and a straight edge ruler. If it is really bad I have used epoxy to build up the gaps and then sanded.
